This program is referred to as Section 8 of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974 offering to families equal opportunities in housing assistance.  Section 8 is a free choice approach to publicly assisted housing.  Free choice for you, the landlord, as well as for the tenant.

The purpose of this program is to provide federally funded Rental Housing Assistance Payments to lower income families to secure decent, safe and sanitary housing.

The Bloomington Housing Authority, under the guidelines of the program , has the authority to assist families with their rental payments for existing housing units.  The housing Authority serves as an advisor to both the landlord and the tenant.
